J Moss has a song called “We must praise” and the lyrics say, If I were a drummer, I would use my cymbal. If I were a writer, I would use a pencil. I would use my voice, if I were a singer. No matter who or what we are, we must praise. If I was a doctor, I would use my research. A prolific dissertation, if I was a speaker. I would use my hands, if I were a potter. No matter who or what we are, we must praise. Let the people of God bless Him, Let it ring with love and truth. With our gifts we exalt Thee. Merciful, wonderful God. We must praise. If I were an eagle, I would use my wings. Since I’m a believer, I use everything. Make a joyful noise unto the Lord. All ye people. No matter who or what we are, we must praise”. This song came to my mind yesterday. My friend Jenea and I were at our last subway stop handing out care packages to the homeless and we saw an older woman sitting on a walker. We walked pass her slowly because we were not sure if she was homeless and didn’t want to offend anyone. Anyway, we took a chance and approached her. We quietly told her that we had care packages with toiletries and asked if she would like one and her face lit up and she said thank you. We then told her there was also water, cookies and a $5 McDonald’s gift card in the bag. She was very thankful and started testifying to us. She told us that she’s been homeless for two years and she is in a shelter however the food is nasty so she comes to Penn station and ask for change. She also said, I’m a Christian and I believe in God. And he never fails me. She said a woman is buying me a donut and I was thirsty too but I didn’t want to ask her to buy me something to drink as well. And here you girls come with water. She then told us that she got up and went to church in the morning and she was just praising God for all that he’s done for her. She said I had $5 and I gave $4 as offering. We spoke for about 20 mins. The entire time we spoke, she was just so positive and so full of praise. She told me about having to sleep on the train(something she thought she would never do), because it’s so scary and dangerous and she said God put a hedge of protection around her. Not once was she assaulted or bothered. Listening to her gave me chills and brought tears to my eyes. Here was a woman, who is a senior citizen, not in the best health and homeless yet she was praising God. She wasn’t complaining about her circumstances, she wasn’t bitter, she wasn’t angry. She told me that she’s been on the waitlist for an apartment and she’s tired of living in the shelter but she knows that God has a plan for her. This woman was weary, she has struggles and yet she offered praises to God. She makes it her duty to get up and go to church. David said, I will bless the Lord at all times and his praises shall continually be in my mouth. Before we parted ways, she asked us to pray for her and she will do the same for us. I left there feeling so blessed. Here I thought that I was blessing her with the care package but she blessed me with something more valuable, and that’s a word from God. She uplifted and encouraged me and I’m so thankful that our paths crossed. So I just want to convey this message, life here on earth is hard every hard, but we as believers know that God is in control and he will take care of us. He is our Jehovah Jireh. He will see to it that we are taken care of and that we are provided for. So in all things give thanks to God. Whatever you have or however you can, praise him, because he is worthy to be praised. I’m asking that today, please take about 5 minutes of your day and please for Ms. Johnson, Henry, LaRock and all the homesless men, women and children in our country. Ms. Johnson conveyed to me that a lot of people think that all homeless people are bums, or drug addicts or crazy and that’s not true. A lot of us just fall on hard times and are trying to get back on our feet. So please keep them in your prayers and I’m urging everyone that if you can give anything to help brighten their day, please do so. Happy Monday and be blessed ❤️
